This is “my driver,” Deepak Sheti. In a city with over 13,000 taxis, Deepak has picked me up five times in the last three weeks. He knows where I work, the exact way I like to go and he gets me there easily twice as fast as any other driver. He’s been driving a cab for 24 years, has a son that he’s putting through med school, works 9am to 6pm (not the usual 12-hour shift) and this is the first Christmas in 20 years that he will not be working because his boss is charging the full lease this Saturday instead of the usual Saturday rate of $50 plus gas. He likes working on Christmas not for the money, which is light, but because he enjoys helping people out. Merry Christmas, Deepak!

One of the pioneers of Philadelphia graffiti. Started writing around 1968. He just e-mailed me saying he will come to the screening at Pearl of Africa on South Street (starting at 7 or 7:30 p.m.). It will be great if he makes it. No guarantee, however. It’s a long drive from where he lives down to Philadelphia, and something could come up between now and then…If he is at the screening, that’s kind of a good back up for me if I have technical difficulties or people don’t like the movie. He can tell the most entertaining stories and he an incredible memory for certain details (he can remember phone numbers and locker combinations from high school). Notorious BIK will be there, too. I was hoping to get T Bone, but he’s playing gigs down the Shore all summer. He said he would like to come to any other screenings. I’m thinking I’ll have at least one more. If Aug. 21 is a success, I’ll definitely be interested in doing more.

A globe-trotting graffiti vandal who admitted to tagging brownstones in the Back Bay and trains at an East Boston MBTA yard was sentenced to six months in jail today in Boston Municipal Court, prosecutors said.

Danielle Bremner, 27, pleaded guilty to 13 vandalism and tagging charges last week, said Jake Wark, a spokesman for Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley.

Bremner, who signs her work “Utah,” was ordered to complete five years of supervised probation, take part in any treatment deemed necessary from a mental health evaluation and pay restitution to be determined at December court hearing, Wark said. She was also ordered to stay away from Boston during her probation period, which will be supervised by New York authorities.
